Cold Laser Therapy

What photobiomodulation or laser therapy?

Cold laser therapy is a form of phototherapy or light therapy. The cold laser instrument produces a beam of light that is applied to the injured area to promote healing. This treatment is painless.

When laser light is absorbed by living tissue, it triggers biological reactions in cells. Chemicals are produced that are released and carried through the blood and lymph flow to other parts of the system. In this way, the effects of cold laser light are local and can also achieve broad systemic physiological responses: pain reduction by causing the production of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers; reducing inflammation by suppressing inflammatory enzymes that create swelling, redness, pain, and warmth; increased lymphatic drainage, which increases circulation and speeds healing; loosens tight muscles that create chronic pain, joint problems and decreased mobility; faster bone repair by stimulating fibroblastic and osteoblastic proliferation.

What is class IV laser therapy?

Class IV lasers have been shown to travel deep into the body, 6 to 8 inches. This depth of light penetration allows photons of light to reach the pain more deeply. This stimulates the damaged cells to start producing ATP.

What is ATP?

As we talked about on the live, ATP is the "fuel" or energy source that all cells need to function and repair. Interestingly, laser therapy has no effect on healthy cells. Laser therapy provides damaged cells in the body with the energy they need to function properly and repair the damage more quickly. Without such repair processes, cells remain damaged and the end result is that people who have injuries continue to experience pain that just won't go away. Laser therapy can speed healing of injured areas, decrease inflammation and eliminate pain, allowing patients to quickly return to normal activities.

What are the benefits?

• Relieves acute and chronic pain.

• Increases the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair.

• Increases blood supply.

• Stimulates the immune system.

• Stimulates nerve function.

• Build collagen and muscle tissue.

• Helps to generate new and healthy cells and tissues.

• Promotes faster wound healing.

• Reduces inflammation.

If you suffer from chronic pain, degenerative neurological disease, or simply want to experience the benefits of cold laser, we invite you to call us and make your appointment.
